Arundhathi coming Back As Unniarchayum

After the superb performance as ‘Arundhathi,’ buxom lady Anushka is offered yet another meaty role which happens to be much bigger than ‘Arundhathi.’ As per the fresh buzz, Anushka is to act in a multi-lingual flick directed by Malayalam film maker Vayalar Madhavan Kutty. Story of the film is based on historical incidents happened between Tipu Sultan and Unniyarcha. Actually, Kamal Hasan was to play Tipu who is now replaced by Arya. Among the five names short listed for Unniyarcha, it was Anushka zeroed upon. In Malayalm, the film is titled as ‘Tipuvum Unniarchayum. As per the basic storyline, legendary Malabar warrior princess Unniyarcha was a contemporary of Tipu Sultan. They both had a deadly war where Tipu captured her and taken Unniyarcha to Mysore in 1790 May. Wooed by her beauty, Tipu forced her to become one of his wives.

Vaalu is the upcoming comedy flick that casts Hansika as Simbu’s love interest is being directed by newbie Vijay. Makers are planning to release the teaser along with Billa 2 on screens. Billa 2 is gearing up to hit the screens worldwide on 15th of this June, but it is being reported by a section of media that Billa 2 might be released on 22nd of June. Nayantara Relationship With Boss

Ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan is known for providing us with a visual treat. Apart from handing the camera he has also wielding the megaphone for Urumi, which is a historical fiction. The movie is visually stunning while the story is though provoking and message oriented.

About the Movie:

Krishna Das (Prithviraj) is struggling to make both ends meet. He is running a music troupe in Goa along with his friend (Prabhu Deva).

One fine day a group of people from a multi national mining company come to meet him with an unexpected offer. They want his sign to sell his ancestral property in Kerala leased out to a NGO by his late mother. Since the lease period is over, he has all the right to sell it. The place is rich in minerals and hence the MNC is eyeing for it.

Krishna Das is delighted. Actually he is not aware of the property. He is on cloud nine and willing to sign. But there is a catch. The document has to be signed by another person, who is mentally ill (Genelia). There are more problems. He has to convince the NGO people and the tribal community living there to vacate.

  

He goes to the area to try and sell the place. He meets the NGO and gets to know their objection. The person who runs the NGO (Vidya Balan) explains him about the potential dangers of starting mining work in the area.

The tribal leader (Arya) makes him aware of his heritage. Krishna’s ancestors had fought to protect the land and its culture from the clutches of foreigners.

Cut to the past. The tribal leader tells the story of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar (Prithviraj), who lived in 15th century. The martial arts expert fought furiously to eliminate Vasco da Gama and free his land of foreign occupation. He had the support of his childhood Muslim buddy Vavvali (Prabhu Deva).

In the journey he meets warrior princess Ayesha (Genelia), who fights against the foreign invaders.

Will they be able to kill Vasco Da Gama and his ruthless son? The foreigners have newly found weapons like pistols and canons. Can Kelu, Vavvali, and Ayisha succeed against them?

Movie Theme :

Though Urumi is set in the backdrop of Indian history, the script of the movie is inspired by many international films that fall in this genre, i.e., native people’s fight against invasion and exploitation. Urumi is also not a historical film in its true sense. The Vasco da Gama incident has been made as a story with the help of many folklores and legends.

The director has ensured that the movie is politically correct. The movie reflects secularist ideals and the unity in diversity of India. Thankfully the director and the scriptwriter have not gone overboard in projecting these things. They have given importance to the story element and the thrill of fighting against the invaders.

The dialogues sound rhetoric in some places but overall they go with the mood of the story without disturbing the flow. The local king, his song and his minister angle has been well narrated. The plots involving the two princesses (Genelia and Nithya) are interesting.

Some characters have not been developed well. For example, Vidya Balan’s character is quite unwarranted. Her much-hyped cameo and item song fails to impress. Tabu’s appearance in a song too looks out of place.

The script doesn’t have the surprising element. Many turning points are is predictable. The tribal leader’s preaching sound odd.

Movie Cast and crew:

Urumi has the Santosh Sivan’s unique style through out. The movie is a visual treat to say the least. But some of the shots depicting the characters look odd, as they seem to be frozen stills on screen.

The fighting sequences have been choreographed well by Anal Arasu.

Deepak Dev’s background score is good but his tunes are not inspiring.

Prithviraj has developed his physique well to suit the role. He has worked a lot to look a warrior. His body language fits the character well. His Tamil diction leaves much to be desired.

Prabhu Deva looks cool and acts with ease. Though he doesn’t impress in terms of emoting he is impressive in fighting sequences. His fighting looks like an artistic expression of a warrior.

Genelia D’Souza, as the warrior princess Aysha, breathe fire. The pretty girl does full justice to the role with her amazing effort.

Nithya Menon does wel in emotional scenes. Vidya Balan looks awesome but she gets a poorly etched character and hence she is not able to make any mark.

Movie Positive points:

Visual quality, fast moving script, and fighting sequences.

Movie Negative points:

Predictable turning points, not-so-exciting music, and too much political correctness.

Movie Decision:

The entire team has put in a lot of efforts to make Urumi is an enjoyable fare.

Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah starrer Billa 2 is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 15th of this June. Chakri Toleti is directing this commercial action entertainer Billa 2 produced by Sunir Kheterpal under In Entertainments banner.It was earlier reported that makers are planning to release Billa 2 on 8th of June, if they complete the post production works and censor formalities by the end of this May. But director Chakri Toleti and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja are busy with the final mixing works in Mumbai. Thaandavam is the upcoming commercial action entertainer being directed by ace director A.L. Vijay that casts Vikram, Anushka, Jagapathi Babu, Amy Jackson and Lakshmi Rai in the lead roles. It is now being widely reported that the firstlook teaser of Thaandavam will be released in June.
UTV Motion Pictures producing Thaandavam is taking fast shape and the unit has recently captured some song sequences on Vikram and Amy Jackson in Thames, which is an English track recently scored by music director GV Prakash. Santhanam has just joined Thaandavam crew few days before to add the comic relief for the audiences.Nirav Shah is cranking the camera for Thaandavam and Anthony will be handling the editing among the technical crew. Makers of Thaandavam have also claimed that the shooting of Thaandavam is getting delayed due to rains in London, while Kollywood is buzzing with the news of releasing the firstlook trailer of Thaandavam in June. The scheduled release date of the movie is 28th September. Unless the movie gets finished its shoot by August, the movie may not be released in this year. As Mahesh has bulky dates for his other projects, he cannot allot the dates for SVSC from September. This situation Makes prince mahesh babu to warn Dil Raju to complete the movie's shoot by August. Kochadaiyaan Audio Release Date ?

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kochadaiyaan has become one of the most eagerly awaited films not only by his millions of fans buty by the movie goers as well. The common man is dying to see how Rajini looks on-screen in his first film after he recovered from a kidney disorder which required him to get admitted to a Singapore hospital for treatment last year.The film, billed as the country’s first animation film to be made in 3-D mode, stars Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Rukmani Vijayakumar, Sarath Kumar, Jacike Shroff, Aadhi, Nasser and many others. Though it’s not a typical Rajini film by no stretch of imagination as it’s an animation film, the film has become a source of strength for Rajini’s fans as it’s the first film of the superstar to release after his Enthiran: The Robot.Rahman has scored the film’s music which has five songs besides a ‘theme’ song. The film’s crew first shot in London and its surrounding areas and then moved to Kerala where a long shooting schedule was held. Rajini and Co. then moved to Hong Kong for what is said to be the final leg of the film’s shoot. As it’s an animation film, the shooting portions are far less compared to an ordinary film.Rajini has sung a song in the film which has only added to the curiosity quotient. It’s the first song sunt by Rajini after more than two decades. Rajini last sung a song in his 1992 super-hit film Mannan which was a popular duet number along with the irrepressible S. Janaki. This song in Kochadaiyaan, penned by Vairamuthu, has come out very well, according to the crew. Rajini has also sung the song in the Hindi version too.As of now, the makers are reportedly planning to release the film’s audio in the last week of June to be followed by the film’s theatrical release is likely in September. Sony Music has acquired the film’s audio rights. The film is likely to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and in Japanese languages.
